Preparations for the construction of a 200-room hotel near Kirkjubæjarklaustur, southeast Iceland, have begun, reports Morgunblaðið. The hotel will be located on a plot of land near the abandoned farm Orustustaðir in Brunasandur, situated 20 kilometres (0.6 miles) east of Kirkjubæjarklaustur.
Byggingarfélagið Sandfell and Stratca Hotels, a company owned by former professional footballer Hreiðar Hermannsson, will oversee the project.
