As many as 25 farms have been left isolated by the flooding in South East and East Iceland. A 25 km (16 mi) stretch of the Ring Road between Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon and the town of Höfn in Hornafjörður fjord has been closed to all traffic after flooding rivers breached the road in at least three seperate spots and undermined bridges. Numerous smaller roads have also been flooded, leaving inhabitants cut off.

The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service RÚV reports that the Coast Guard will deliver provisions to the farms by helicopter. The Civil Protection Agency and Coast Guard will ensure that the farms will have provisions to last until Monday. The Road and Coastal Administration does not expect the Ring Road will be opened until Sunday at the earliest.

Several dozen sheep have been killed
No injuries have been reported, but farmers in South East and East Iceland have lost livestock to the flood. Farmers in Fljótsdalur valley in East Iceland lost at least 40 sheep when fields were flooded yesterday. Most of the sheep were lambs who drowned in flash flooding.

ICE-SAR assisted the farmers in rescuing the rest of their flocks. ICE-SAR has also been busy assisting the farmer at Hamarssel in Hamarsfjörður fjord herd his sheep to safety. A number of sheep are feared to have perished in a large mud- and rock slide shortly before noon.
