Around 1,200 people on 24 tour buses travelled around west Iceland yesterday evening in search of the Northern Lights, reports Mbl. The trips were conducted by tour operator Gray Line, which is one of many companies offering special Northern Light tours.
Þórir Garðarsson, who is head of sales and marketing for Gray Line, blames bad weather conditions at the beginning of the week for yesterday’s unusually large number of Northern Light tours.

The company checks the weather forecast before each tour and then decides where to hunt for the magnificent Aurora Borealis. However, the lights can only be seen on a clear night and the company reserves the right to cancel due to weather conditions. In such cases customers are offered a second tour free of charge.
