The fissure eruption in Holuhraun lava field continues at a stable level. No explosive activity has been monitored and the eruption remains an effusive lava eruption. According to the Icelandic Met Office there have been no obvious changes in the eruption since yesterday.

Roughly 250 earthquakes have been detected up until now, most of them located in the northern part of the magma intrusion, between the eruption site and 10 kilometres south into Dyngjujökull glacier.

According to the IMO, some seismic activity has also been detected in the broader Askja region, north of Vatnajökull glacier. The strongest events were located at Herðubreiðartögl last night, the strongest being M 2.9. The Askja volcano was seismically quiet during those events.
